Former Texas Republican congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul received his reportedly first Bitcoin (BTC) from Bitcoin Foundation board member and Bitcoin wallet startup Ballet Crypto founder, Bobby Lee, on Oct. 28. Lee publicly announced the gift he had given to Paul on Nov. 2, noting that the coin has been loaded into a gold-plated Bitcoin wallet produced by his company Ballet Crypto. He added that extra care has been given to customizing the wallet to better suit the former congressman. Congressman Paul is 84 years old, it looks like anyone at any age can get involved in the world of cryptocurrency. Ethereum development firm CasperLabs announced “Highway,” which they claim is the first correct-by-construction Casper Proof of Stake (PoS) implementation that is provably live and safe. It is meant to be a protocol that is safe if it is consistent in its decision and live if it guarantees a decision. CasperLabs claims that both those features are part of Highway and that their presence is provable. What will this development do for Ethereum? The United States national debt is now over $23 trillion, this equates to an individual debt per the United States citizen is of about $70,000 and that the debt to gross domestic product ratio is over 105%. So what does this mean for the world of cryptocurrency? The host of the Keiser Report and cryptocurrency entrepreneur, Max Keiser, has talked about the relationship between government decisions and the value of Bitcoin: “It bottomed when the Fed signaled ‘Infinite QE’ recently at around $3,300 BTC. Global Central Banking is about to go bust. […] All fiat money will die.” Saying that all fiat currency will die is a very strong thing to say, but what does happen is when people lose faith in a particular asset, or asset class, they will invest in another commodity, so now that the US national debt is over 100% of US GDP, what will the future value be of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies?
